Class: Knitting 104 - Correcting Mistakes for Beginners

You have mastered knitting and purling. You can also create garter stitch, stockinete stitch, and ribbing, but sometimes things just don't seem to look exactly right. There are several common knitting mistakes that plague all knitters, but after you learn how to correct them you will be empowered to take control of your knitting. In this class, we'll learn how to pick up dropped knit stitches, purl stitches, edge stitches, and stitches in garter stitch. We will talk about unknitting, ripping out your knitting, and adding a lifeline. After you have practiced those skills, you will be able to take on more projects with confidence.

Mandatory homework: To participate in this class, you must bring two swatches approximately 6 inches square - one swatch of stockinette, and one swatch of garter stitch. Do not bind off. The swatch will need to be on knitting needles, so you will be able to continue them in class. Please use a size 6 super bulky weight smooth yarn that is not fuzzy, in a light color with a size 13 knitting needle. This will make it easy for you to see and identify your stitches.

Yarn and crochet hooks can be purchased during class (~$10-15) and you are welcome to bring supplies if you already have your own. Space is limited. If you can't attend for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible. Cancellations within 24 hours of class time will not be refunded or credited.
